Firstly, the MR images are smoothed by the anisotropic diffusion (AD) filtering to reduce the bias caused by the noise. Then a Markov random field (MRF) model is constructed to quantify the likelihood of each voxel. The obtained MRF map is thresholded by the SOM algorithm which forms the final segmentation results.
