One of the greatest things about Photoshop is that you can get a lot of information from a single image. Take this photograph, for example. You can learn so much by looking at just one image. Here are just a few things that you can learn from looking at this image:
* The location. I call this photograph “Times Square, Front of the IBM Building.”
* The wall. Look at the wall. You can see every detail of the surface. Notice the spots and cracks and the dirt that made up the walls of this building.
* The building. The building was once a building — in the past it was something else.
* The view. You can see the rest of New York from this spot. Notice the buildings on the New York skyline.
Consider how long it would take to capture this image on film. Do you think that image is similar to the ones you see in other people’s shops? Sure, you could make some of the objects appear in the photo, but at the end of the day, this scene is just as fake as the ones you see in other people’s shops.
The photograph that you see here captures the general look of the environment. You can clearly see the surface of the building, the change in light from the sun, and the details on the wall. This photograph had to be captured with many exposures. It was taken with a series of five frames, as shown in Figure 11-4.
Figure 11-4: The five frames are shown here. Notice the movement of the building from frame to frame.
Photoshop gives you an idea of how to compose an image just by looking at it and can correct the composition to make the image look even more realistic. When you open an image in Photoshop, you can move, resize, and rotate, and Photoshop automatically adjusts the image for you so that it looks more like the way you see it in your mind. This is one of the greatest features of Photoshop. If you have an idea of how an image should look, you can quickly see whether Photoshop captures that look.
If you have been working in other programs to edit images, you might find that Photoshop seems to be a big step forward. Photoshop gives you so many options that you can spend months editing a single image. It’s best to start with something small and take the time to learn the features before you make large changes. Once you get the hang of Photoshop and gain some confidence, you may
If you’re looking for Photoshop alternative I recommend GIMP but you can also use the open source alternative of the professional version, Krita.
Photoshop Alternatives to Create New Photos
It’s very easy to use Photoshop to make your own images. With Photoshop, there are thousands of photo effects available at your fingertips, or, if you prefer, you can pay for additional effects from Adobe Stock.
In this article, I’ll show you how to use Photoshop’s built-in effects to create amazing new photos.
Before you start, be sure to prepare your images before you apply the effects.
1. Converting Images to Grayscale
To open an image in Photoshop, click the open button in the top bar. Then select an image file or drag the image file onto the Photoshop tool window.
After opening the image file, choose Image > Mode > Grayscale.
Optionally, you can also use Image > Adjust > Curves to change the brightness and contrast.
2. Adjust Lighting
Lighting is key to making great photos. I recommend using a photo editing program such as Photoshop to add light to your image.
1. Open your image and choose Adjustments > Curves.
2. Adjust the curve to darken the overall image.
3. Change the Hue Saturation Curve to the left and make it curve back toward red, or leave it at the default setting of white and black.
4. Adjust the Exposure Curve to the left and make it curve back toward the blue.
5. Make the curve look more extreme than the other two curves by moving the white point toward the right and moving the black point to the left.
6. Lastly, change the Saturation Curve to the left and make it curve back toward red.
Original image (left) vs. Corrected image (right)
The corrected image has more contrast and better lighting.
You can edit this image again to look even better.
3. Adjust Perspective
Photoshop can draw on a photograph, including digitally removing imperfections.
1. Open the image and change the image mode from RGB to Grayscale.
2. Using the tool above the image canvas, click on the Displace tool
In the United States alone, over twenty million people are currently infected with Herpes viruses (HSV) which are spread through kissing, nervous contact, and from mother to child during birth. The infection of HSV can cause cold sores, fever blisters and shingles. Furthermore, the HSV infection causes inflammation of the cornea, known as keratitis. Typically, keratitis can lead to loss of vision. Over one million cases of herpes keratitis, as well as, recurrent herpes labialis (or recurrent herpes) occur each year in the United States. Due to the debilitating effects of recurrent herpes infection, a need exists for therapeutic treatments and preventative measures in the treatment of this disease.
Alpha interferon (alpha IFN) is currently the most effective agent currently used in the treatment of the recurrent HSV disease (Recurrent Herpes). This treatment for recurrent HSV infection is expensive, extremely inconvenient, and is not always effective. Anti-viral agents such as acyclovir have been shown to be effective in the prevention of recurrence of herpetic diseases. However, these agents often cause undesirable side effects when administered orally. Additionally, zidovudine (Retrovir®) has been shown to be an effective agent in preventing HSV recurrences; however, it is indicated only for use in women.
Nucleoside analogs, particularly acyclovir (Zovirax®), are effective inhibitors of HSV replication. Acyclovir functions by disrupting the viral DNA chain elongation steps, thus interfering with the production of late virion proteins. Unfortunately, acyclovir is a substrate for cellular enzymes and is converted to acyclovir triphosphate (Acyclovir-TP) which is a competitive inhibitor of the natural host enzymes thymidine kinase and DNA polymerase. Acyclovir-TP, the antiviral metabolite of acyclovir, is incorporated into the viral DNA and causes premature termination of the DNA chain. Acyclovir-TP also appears to inhibit the action of other viruses including Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), varicella zoster virus (VZV), and human papilloma virus (HPV).
The antiviral effects of acyclovir against HSV are well documented. It is currently used for the treatment of herpes keratitis,
Should I make my end table with my other furniture?
I’m looking to build my own end table in the next few weeks. I want to make my end table that I’ll use to store stuff in the bathroom. I want it to be like it’s sitting next to the bathtub.
My question is, should I make the table out of something like plywood or should I make it from mahogany or something like that? That seems like a good investment to me so I’m asking here if anybody else has made a table similar to what I want or if they can share any tips.
Depends on what you want the table to hold. Are you planning on holding mirrors or other glassy objects? If so, you will want to do some research on what kind of wood is best suited to doing this. If you are holding books you probably don’t want to worry about the type of wood to use as the type of wood may break or shrink when exposed to the elements.
Metro’s rail construction site in Santa Ana has been put on hold by federal transportation officials as the Transportation Department deliberates over the future of a $3 billion city-suburban rail project.
The Federal Transit Administration issued the suspension Tuesday but did not outline its reasons.
An agency official said only that the suspension had been granted because of a “complex regulatory review that was initiated this fall regarding Metro’s request to extend Orange County’s rail system.”
Metro, the official said, is “caught in limbo while FTA helps us find the best ways to serve the growing needs of Orange County residents.”
More than half of Metro’s funding, including $750 million from the county, comes from federal sources.
The Federal Transit Administration is expected to announce within weeks whether or not it will issue a final environmental impact statement on the project, which would extend the Orange Line from its current El Toro end in Orange to the South Coast Plaza in Santa Ana, creating connections between the two parts of the county, including five new stations.
The streetcar project, a partnership between the Orange County Transportation Authority and the cities of Costa Mesa and Santa Ana, has been years in the making.
In an interview, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said he hasn’t heard that Metro’s rail line would be
